My beautiful wife has died, John Travolta announced that actress Kelly Preston has lost the battle with the disease
US actress Kelly Preston has died at the age of 58 from breast cancer, her husband John Travolta announced today.
He said Preston had died after two years of battling the disease.
"I am deeply saddened to announce that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost a two-year battle with breast cancer. "She bravely fought with the love and support of all of us," Travolta said.
She was married to Travolta for 29 years and has a daughter, Ella, 20, and a son, Benjamin, 9, while her son Jet died in 2009.
Kelly is best known for her roles in "Gemini" and "Jerry McGuire", and her last film was "The Last Song" with Miley Cyrus.
Their son Jet, 16, died during a family vacation in the Bahamas when he suffered a fatal attack. Despite desperate attempts to revive him, the teenager died at the Bahamas family home, then-Travolta family lawyer Michael Ossie confirmed. According to him, Jet had attacks before.
His parents have said in the past that Jett suffered from Kawasaki syndrome, a rare condition that can lead to heart disease. Kawasaki disease is most common in children, with 80 percent of patients as young as five, and more often boys than girls.
